STEAM-Based Jewelry & Industrial Arts Program

Connecting Creativity with Career Readiness

Our curriculum bridges the gap between art, science, and industry—preparing students for the future through engaging hands-on experiences rooted in industrial design, jewelry-making, and cultural storytelling.

Integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM), we foster critical thinking, refine motor skills, nurture development, and career exploration. Each project is aligned with California Common Core, Visual Arts, Next Generation Science, and Mathematics Standards.

This project is a pathway to making industrial art utilizing learned fabrication processes and materials.

Description:  Inspired by the LA 2028 Olympics, students design an action figure charm. They study human anatomy and movement, then form a figure using advanced weaving and copper-shaping tools.

Learning Activities:

  • Study joints and motion in human anatomy

  • Use a cross-slide vice to shape copper appendages

  • Create a figure using leather weaving for the torso

  • Analyze and improve charm design

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand biomechanics and movement design

  • Introduce students to basic engineering and tool safety

  • Build 3D modeling and problem-solving skills

  • Aligns with NGSS Engineering Design and Social Science standards
